I had the pleasure of collaborating with the fantastic team at Apollo.io to shape the visual style and create illustrations for their new e-book, Outbound Sales
Project Deliverables:
Partner with the Design team to establish and define a unique illustration style
Create a dynamic main cover with the option of animation
Develop 8 custom illustrations, one for each chapter
Defining the Visual Style
I began by interpreting the themes the Design team envisioned for the book's visuals and developed two distinct visual concepts. The team gravitated toward the second concept, which featured a soft, ethereal quality—characterized by wispy textures, transcendent colors, and a dreamlike aesthetic.
Developing the Chapter Illustrations
With the direction established, the team provided the e-book's contents and chapter summaries, along with insights into each chapter's themes and visual objectives.
I worked with the team to conceptualize a unique world for these illustrations, exploring how concepts like cold-calling or multichannel outreach could be represented in fresh, organic ways.
Guided by the book's content and the team's vision, I created an array of concept sketches for each chapter. The team reviewed these, selecting the ideas to move forward with.
I used Adobe Illustrator. Apollo.io’s team was responsive and open throughout, providing clear guidance on what resonated. Collaborating with them was a highly rewarding experience.
Bringing the World Together on the Cover
With the chapter illustrations complete, I moved on to the cover design. The goal was to create a visually compelling entry point that reflects the book’s themes and invites exploration.
The cover serves as a gateway, offering a broad view of the journey ahead and encapsulating the essence of this world—hinting at both where you are and where the book's tools can take you.
Final Illustrations and Cover
Here are the final results of this project. It was a great experience to collaborate with such a talented team, and I hope each illustration, along with the cover, helps create an immersive experience for readers.
